Emerging in the late 90s with Britney, Christina and the rest of the bottle blondes, Mandy sang the same bland pop confections as her counterparts but with each album she released, she demonstrated more growth and maturity than the others. 2003 brought "Coverage", a tribute to the great pop/rock standards of the 70s and 80s, where she covered tracks by Elton John, Carol King and Cat Stevens. The album received much critical acclaim but lacked any real single material so Mandy was dropped from her label. Rising from the ashes in mid-2007, Mandy found herself on a new label, a joint venture between The Firm management company and EMI. "Wild Hope" consists of 12 mature recordings from Mandy's own personal experiences -- she co-wrote all 12 tracks with the help of producer John Alagia (Dave Matthews, John Mayer). After seeing her twice in concert this past September, I can truly say Mandy is the real deal in adult pop music and should not be written off like her peers. Definately give this disc a listen. TheZatch's Top 5 Albums of 2007: 2. OneRepublic, "Dreaming Out Loud" After waiting 2 1/2 long years, this band finally released their debut album and it was definately worth the wait. Lead singer / producer Ryan Tedder crafted 12 tracks of pop radio-friendly music, each track with a familiar vibe to it, as if you've heard them already a million times and you can't help but want to sing along. Lead single "Apologize" shot straight to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to a Timbaland remix off of his "Shock Value" album and their next single "Stop & Stare" is poised for the same success. Before even releasing the album, the band was the #1 unsigned band on MySpace for more than a year and after signing with Timbaland's Mosley Music Group label, things only took off from there. They've already completed a small US tour and will open for Maroon 5 during their Australian / New Zealand tour in the Spring.
